A forthcoming evolution of "anyone can be an influencer" is that we are seeing a desire for influencer feeds that poke fun at the absurdity of influencer culture.

The latest example of this is the new account @justaconstructionguy. And in similar fashion to @world_record_egg it is being fueled by the meme community.

At the time of writing this article, the account is now at 290,000 followers on Instagram.

According to legend, this is how it all started:

0-1-1

Now regardless of the authenticity of its origin or if it may just be an intelligent brand stunt from STANLEY Thermos or Cuvee Coffee - it speaks to a larger story.

Just look at some of the comments from imgur.

We are already starting to see the earliest signs of a revolt against the curated and pre-set filtered nature of the Instagram aesthetic - but I don't think that's what's happening here.

This is more of a commentary on the millions of "would-be" influencers who have recently entered the market that are carbon copies of those that came before them.

There is no question that we are in an originality/creativity deficit. I'm just not convinced that parody is the answer - but it does shine a spotlight on the need to move beyond "best practices."
